To Clarify... (re: Jimmy Stewart and the Yeti)

Here's the thing. If you said to me "uhhh... The Smithsonian gave Jimmy Stewart the hand of a yeti because, you know, they can't have that thing sitting around in the friggin' Smithsonian- that would freak people out, so they were like 'we need to give this to someone trustworthy who can't be traced back to us' and Frank Capra was like 'I totally vouch for Jimmy Stewart... if you want to give it to that dude.' 'The actor dude?' the Smithsonian's curator would ask. 'Totally.' Capra would respond, nodding."

I would think about it, process it, and then say "that is ridiculous, but it kinda makes sense- so it seems like something you would make up in an attempt to trick me into believing it."

So I wouldn't believe you.

But if you said "Jimmy Stewart once stole a ceremonial yeti hand from a monastery in Tibet," I'd say back"but Jimmy Stewart was a good guy (except for in 'Rope') so he wouldn't steal something- and why would he be in Tibet? Your story doesn't work for numerous reasons! No one will believe this story! So... it must be true. If you were making this up, there would be some attempt on your part to use your knowledge of Jimmy Stewart and somehow create a sensible historical context- but there's none of that here, so you must not be making it up. You're not concerned with whether or not I believe it to be true- BECAUSE IT IS TRUE!"

Case closed.
